Abstract

Aging is an ongoing and inevitable decline complex that includes many changes. These changes, which include socioeconomic status changes, may affect the nutritional status of the elderly.

Nutritional factors play an important role in changing quality of life.Elderly malnutrition is now considered a global problem, which is also increasing in economically developed countries. It is important that the choice and implementation of nutritional principles in the elderly, be made personalized and flexible, taking into account several elements.

The systematic screening of malnutrition among the elderly population is important and can be performed in the family doctor’s office, both to identify and correct reversible nonphysiological causes and to send the patient to the geriatric doctor in a timely manner.
