Whether they suffer from cancer or have another diagnosis of a progressive chronic disease, 172,000 people need palliative care in Romania every year. Only 11% of these patients benefit from care provided by palliative professionals, bringing relief and quality to life until the end.<\/p>\n
For these professionals, HOSPICE Casa Speran\u021bei in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of Transilvania University, Brasov and the University of Rhode Island prepared a masterclass with the theme “Nursing in Palliative Care”. (January 16-18, 2023)<\/p>\n
The aim of this program is to improve the level of competence of professionals from specialized teams in Europe and beyond.<\/p>\n
Speakers and lecturers with extensive experience in the field of Nursing from Transilvania University Bra\u0219ov, Hospice Casa Speran\u021bei Bra\u0219ov, University of Rhode Island- College of Nursing, University of Maryland in Baltimore, University of Massachusetts Medical School have prepared an intensive program and interactive three-day distance learning course focusing on: roles and responsibilities of nurses in multidisciplinary palliative care teams, nursing assessment and holistic approach, pain and symptom control, non-pharmacological approaches to pain, ethics, communication , wound care and opportunity for open discussion.<\/p>\n
Fourty-two participants (nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists and therapists) attended this course, coordinated by Lecturer Nicoleta Mitrea APRN, PhD (Hospice Casa Speran\u021bei and Transilvania University)<\/p>\n
The success of this program could be summed up by some of the impressions conveyed by the participants:<\/p>\n
